ALCOHOL AND OTHER DRUGS

Professional learning module

This professional learning module will enable you to reflect upon and enhance your professional practice, and to improve outcomes for your students.

Build your understanding of alcohol and other drugs in the Australian context and about approaches to drug and alcohol education in schools. This module will equip you with current information and provide links to quality resources and best-practice approaches for teaching students the skills to build resilience and make informed choices when they are confronted with decisions about legal and illegal substances.

This free self-paced professional learning module comprises three sessions:

  • Context of drug use and responses
  • Drugs and their effects
  • What works in drug education and what doesn't?

You can make and edit notes in your Journal and save them to your Dashboard. You can also email or print notes.

Educators have a pivotal role to play in developing whole-school policies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every member of the school community – and for building positive and effective communication with parents and caregivers.

Each session in this module is accompanied by a podcast where you will hear experts in the field discussing key aspects of alcohol and drug research and practice.

Once completed, you will receive a certificate aligned to the National Safe Schools Framework and the AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers.
